How does a company benefit from RALA Competence?

Construction project developers often require a company to prove its capability for executing a project. The RALA Competence verification coupled with necessary attachments is an acceptable replacement for reports required in procurement notices. This includes both the reports on compliance with statutory requirements and sector-specific competence. Developers may also specifically require their suppliers to have a RALA Competence verification.

How is the RALA Competence related to the Act of the Contractor’s Obligations and Liability when Work is Contracted Out?

To be granted a RALA Competence verification, the company must fulfill the registration and notification requirements specified in the Act of the Contractor’s Obligations and Liability when Work is Contracted Out.

With the RALA Competence verification a company doesn't need to retrieve statutory information from various registers since the tilaajavastuu.fi service manages that. We request the company to sign a document, with the power of an attorney, authorising RALA and the tilaajavastuu.fi service to access the information specified in the Act of the Contractor’s Obligations and Liability when Work is Contracted Out.

In addition, the Reliable Partner service is included in the annual fee of the RALA Competence.

Who may apply for RALA Competence verification?

Companies in the construction sector and public administration organisations that have executed reference projects in Finland, and can present adequate financial statements, are eligible to apply for a RALA Competence verification.

The RALA Competence is granted to an individual business ID and in a specific category according to the RALA list of certification categories. A corporate group may apply for a RALA Competence verification separately for each subsidiary or division.
